The Ode to Katrina - the Windy Lass From The Gulf
New Lyrics by Scott Leverenz
Sung By Walter Brennan
In two thousand five Katrina took a trip
She came thru New Orleans and the State of Mississip
She brought a lot of water and she brought a lot of wind,
The force of her anger wouldn't think of a rescind
We laid down the sandbags and the water kept a comin'
There's a whole lot more than there was an hour ago
We laid down more sandbags and the water kept a runnin'
Comin from the Lake and the Gulf of Mexico
Well we looked down the river and seen the water come
We headed for the high ground like the beating of a drum
We jumped so high that we landed on the roof
Da fact that we're sittin' here is all you need in proof
We laid down the sandbags and the water kept a comin'
There's a whole lot more than there was an hour ago
We laid down more sandbags and the water kept a runnin'
Comin from the Lake and the Gulf of Mexico
The weatherman had warned us that the winds had sallied-forth
And it wasn't very long before Ka-trina headed north
We prayed like hell that the levees they would hold
Knew that they mightn't - they was sure was old as .... Well...
We laid down the sandbags and the water kept a comin'
There's a whole lot more than there was an hour ago
We laid down more sandbags and the water kept a runnin'
Comin from the Lake and the Gulf of Mexico
Well... we ran out of food and we ran out of power
And we laid down to sleep where Paris Hilton wouldn't go
And we ran from the looters and we ran for the buses
Yeah we ran from New Orleans and the Gulf of Mexico
We stayed on that roof until someone helped us down
Sure glad they got us - at least we hadn't drowned.
The chopper came and got us in a coordinated whoosh
I can't blame Katrina - I'll blame it all on BUSH!
