Leverenz Ancestry
Welcome to the our family history website. The task of
creating a site is a time consuming, frustrating, but often
rewarding experience. Thanks to all those before me who
helped track various branches of the family. As of November
2002, the farthest back the tree goes is to 1513 in France
- from my mother's side of the family... the
Letourneau/Laturno branch. The thing that helped is
the fact that the family stayed in the St Francis (now
Beauceville)
area of Quebec from the early 1700's to the late 1800's
before they moved to Iowa. The Catholic Church in Quebec
kept excellent records of births, marriages and deaths as
they do to this day.
Thanks
Thanks to my Aunt Joanne (Gilbert) Schultz and her husband
Len for their work on finding connections to our past.
Genealogy
Also a belated thank you to Dorthea M Schuh of Spokane
Washington. In 1969 she assembled a family history of the
Laturno [Letourneau] family that has laid the ground work
for much of what you find here. And that was BEFORE the
internet!!
The Software
Currently we use MacFamily Tree to maintain our
family tree. It's specifically made for Macintosh
computers. It's an excellent program. MacFamily Tree helps
to document, store, and display information about our
family - ancestors, descendants, cousins, etc. It records
names, dates, places, facts, plenty of notes, sources of
information, pictures, sounds, and videos. It shows family
relationships in an elegant, graphic form - people and
families are linked in an easy-to-understand fashion.
Previously we used Reunion from Leister Software.
